Ten Gods (Sipsin)

Ten role categories that classify the relationship of each character to the Day Master

The Ten Gods (Sipsin) classify the seven remaining characters in a Saju chart into ten types based on their Five-Element relationship to the Day Master (Ilgan, the self). They are the core interpretive tool, revealing what role each character plays relative to you. ● Bigyeon (Companion): Same element, same polarity as me. Peers, competitors, independence. ● Geopjae (Rob Wealth): Same element, opposite polarity. Sociable, assertive, competitive. ● Siksin (Eating God): Element I produce, same polarity. Talent, expression, creativity, good fortune with food. ● Sanggwan (Hurting Officer): Element I produce, opposite polarity. Flair, artistry, rebelliousness, free spirit. ● Pyeonjae (Indirect Wealth): Element I control, same polarity. Fluid wealth, business ventures, risk-taking. ● Jeongjae (Direct Wealth): Element I control, opposite polarity. Stable wealth, earned income, diligence. ● Pyeongwan (Indirect Authority / Seven Killings): Element that controls me, same polarity. Power, challenge, tension, breakthrough. ● Jeonggwan (Direct Authority): Element that controls me, opposite polarity. Honor, order, responsibility, career. ● Pyeonin (Indirect Seal): Element that produces me, same polarity. Specialized learning, inspiration, solitude. ● Jeongin (Direct Seal): Element that produces me, opposite polarity. Academics, the mother figure, protection, patience. The distribution and strength of the Ten Gods reveal a person's primary tendencies, aptitudes, financial fortune, and relationship patterns. For example, a chart strong in Siksin and Sanggwan suggests outstanding expressiveness and creativity, while strength in Jeonggwan and Jeongin indicates a stable, scholarly temperament. Understanding the Ten Gods enables deeper self-awareness of behavioral patterns in everyday life. For instance, a person with abundant Bigyeon and Geopjae has a strong sense of independence and seeks equal-footing relationships, but may find compromise difficult. Such individuals tend to thrive in solo ventures or freelance work rather than co-management. Conversely, someone with plentiful Jeongjae and Jeonggwan adapts well to organizational life and excels at building steady earned income. Charts heavy in Pyeonjae and Pyeongwan enjoy change and challenge, suiting an entrepreneur or investor profile far better than a civil-servant trajectory. One common misconception about the Ten Gods is that having Pyeongwan (Seven Killings) is inherently bad. While this energy exerts intense pressure on the self, when properly controlled it transforms into powerful drive and leadership. Throughout history, many heroes and successful entrepreneurs have had strong Pyeongwan influence in their charts. Similarly, Sanggwan (Hurting Officer) challenges the established order, but when channeled into artistic creativity and innovation, it can produce extraordinary achievements. The Ten Gods operate differently in each life period as Major Luck Cycles (Daeun) and Annual Fortune (Seun) shift. If the current Major Luck Cycle is a Jeongjae (Direct Wealth) period, it calls for stable wealth accumulation and diligence. When a Pyeongwan period arrives, it signals a time to face challenges, adapt to new environments, and embrace change. Tracking the Ten Gods through each period in this way allows a person to set concrete strategic directions for each phase of life. DESTIGER automatically calculates the Ten God designation for every character in a user's natal chart and presents the distribution ratio visually. It also analyzes which Ten Gods are being activated by the current Major Luck Cycle and Annual Fortune, providing specific guidance on the areas to focus on (wealth, relationships, learning, health, etc.) and the tendencies to watch out for at this moment.
